jpx400 Heatmap — RS Rating × Minervini Trend Score

“The trend is evident to a man who has an open mind and reasonably clear sight, for it is never wise for a speculator to fit his facts to his theories.”
(Jesse Livermore)

KOLの視点KOL Take

When I cannot see the trend, the chart is rarely what is hiding it; my own view usually is. A theory held tightly enough quietly edits the facts until they agree with it.

Core Principle

Look at how little Livermore asks for: an open mind and reasonably clear sight. The surrounding passage is about telling a bull market from a bear market once the move has properly started, and his claim is that the answer is rarely hidden. What hides it is commitment. Once a theory is held tightly, facts stop being evidence and become material to explain away. A rally the theory forbids becomes a trap, a new high becomes irrational, and any weakness it predicted becomes proof. Each reinterpretation feels like analysis. Together they form a closed loop, and the loop is emotional before it is intellectual, because revising the theory means admitting it was wrong.

Trading Application

One practical guard is to keep observation and interpretation in separate columns. Record what the market actually did, such as which indexes made new highs, how leading stocks behaved and whether declines found buyers, before writing a word about why. When most of the second column exists to explain away the first, the theory is doing the reading. The takeaway: let the facts revise the theory, because a theory that is never allowed to lose an argument has stopped being analysis.
