“When a stock is above an advancing AVWAP, buyers are in control for that timeframe, as the average price is increasing.”

An anchored average is not a forecast, it is a headcount. It tells me what everyone who bought since a chosen moment has actually paid, and whether they are still paying up.
Core Principle
An anchored VWAP is the volume-weighted average price paid by everyone who has bought since the anchor. That makes it a fact about participants rather than a prediction about price. If a stock trades above it and the level itself is rising, buyers since that anchor are collectively ahead and are still paying more. Two qualifiers do quiet work in the sentence. Advancing: the average has to be rising, because price above a flat or falling one says something much weaker. And for that timeframe: the reading belongs to the anchor you chose, so an average anchored to an earnings gap and one anchored to a major low can disagree without either being wrong. They describe different groups of people.

Anchor to a moment that genuinely changed the story, such as an earnings gap, a major low, or the start of a decline, then read two things: which side of the level price is on, and whether the level is advancing. The takeaway: the answer tells you who is currently ahead and who is underwater since that moment, which is a statement about supply rather than a forecast of the next move.
