sp500 Heatmap — RS Rating × Minervini Trend Score

“Protect all of your positions with stops and don’t ever make an exception because a certain stock is a special situation.”
(Stan Weinstein)

KOLの視点KOL Take

Every position I have ever refused to protect had a reason, and the reason was always a good one. That is the tell: the exception never shows up as carelessness, it shows up as conviction.

Core Principle

Notice that the rule is stated as a universal, all of your positions, because selective application is the entire failure. And the selection is never random. The position that gets the exemption is the one you are most convinced by, which is almost always among the largest you own. Conviction sets the size and conviction grants the carve-out, so two errors compound in the same name: maximum exposure paired with minimum protection, produced by a single feeling doing two jobs. A book built that way looks diversified on a spreadsheet and is not, because its real risk has quietly concentrated in whichever position you were surest about.

Trading Application

Go through the open book, find the position you would hesitate to place a stop on, then check its size against everything else. If it is also among your largest, you have located the trade capable of doing structural damage. The takeaway: a rule you would suspend for your best idea was never a rule. It only earns its keep on the position you least want it on.
