Williams’s pun does the work: live in the past and you will have no business left. The past shows up
in an account as three habits. The first is the position you still hold because of what you
concluded weeks ago, not what is true today. The second is the method that worked in one regime and
quietly stopped, kept alive because it once felt like skill. The third is the loss you are still
trading against — sizing up to win it back, or refusing a good setup because something similar hurt
you. All three treat a conclusion as permanent when it was only ever a reading of conditions that
have since moved on. The market keeps no memory of what it did for you.

自分の結論に、賞味期限を設定すること。保有中の各ポジションについて、「今日ならどんな根拠があれば新規に入るか」を自問すること——その根拠が見当たらないなら、あなたが保有しているのはトレードではなく、思い出だ。手法についても同じ基準で判断すること——それを学んだ当時に何をしてくれたかではなく、直近に何をしてくれているかで判断する。要点:自分がいまいる市場から根拠を得ること。かつて自分を鍛えてくれた市場からではない。
Put an expiry date on your conclusions. Ask of each open position what would make you enter it
today; if that evidence is absent, you are holding a memory rather than a trade. Judge your methods
the same way: by what they have done lately, not by what they did when you learned them. The
takeaway: take your reasons from the market you are in, not from the one that taught you.
