sp500 Heatmap — RS Rating × Minervini Trend Score

“Disregarding the big swing and trying to jump in and out was fatal to me. Nobody can catch all the fluctuations.”
(Jesse Livermore)

KOLの視点KOL Take

The trades that hurt me most were never one big mistake. They were a hundred small,

reasonable-looking ones, taken while the move I had actually read right went on without me.

Core Principle

Livermore is describing damage with no dramatic event attached. There was no blow-up and no

catastrophic position — only an accumulation of in-and-out decisions, each defensible on its own,

that together cost him the move he had already read correctly. Two things happen when you trade

every fluctuation. You pay for each attempt in costs and small losses, and those compound faster

than anyone expects. And you cannot be positioned for the big swing while you keep stepping out of

it, because the move that pays for a year requires you to be there while it happens. Activity feels

like attentiveness, which is why the cost is so hard to see. His second sentence removes the escape

hatch: this is not a skill that arrives with more screen time. Nobody catches all of them.

Trading Application

Separate two questions before you touch a working position: is the larger move still intact, and is

this particular wiggle a reason to do anything? The second answer is usually no, and the real motive

for acting is discomfort rather than evidence. The takeaway: choose which move you are trading, and

let the smaller ones you are not trading pass without you.
