“Pay less attention to what you think the market should be doing, and more to what the market is actually doing.”
(Gil Morales)

The market does not owe my thesis a hearing. When what I expect and what I am watching disagree, the one on the screen is the one with money behind it.
Core Principle
The trap is that should feels like analysis. A view about where the market ought to go gets assembled from real inputs — rates, earnings, valuation, history — so it carries the texture of work, and work is hard to walk away from. The cost is not the view itself; it is the filtering that begins the moment you hold one. Evidence that agrees becomes confirmation. Evidence that disagrees becomes noise, or a market being temporarily irrational. Morales is not arguing that your view is wrong. He is pointing out that it belongs to a different category from what price is doing, and only one of those two categories is currently adding to or subtracting from your account.
Trading Application
Describe the market in plain language with no forecast attached: what is leading, how breakouts are behaving, whether declines are being bought. Then look at your positions and ask which description they were built for — that one, or your view. The takeaway: keep the opinion, but never let it outrank the observation. Emotional control is mostly the habit of noticing which of the two you are actually trading.
