sp500 Heatmap — RS Rating × Minervini Trend Score

“At the most, I risk 1% of my total equity on each trade. I divide my equity into 10 positions or a 10% weighting on the initial purchase of a position.”
(David Ryan)

KOLの視点KOL Take

What I take from Ryan’s arithmetic is not the numbers themselves — it is that he had already settled them before there was anything to feel. Sizing decided in advance is a rule; sizing decided mid-trade is a negotiation.

Core Principle

Two numbers, doing two different jobs. The one percent is a loss cap: the most of the account a wrong answer is permitted to remove. The ten percent is an exposure slice: how much of the account participates at all. They are not the same measurement, and the distance between them is where the exit has to live, because you cannot hold a loss to one percent of equity on a ten percent position without knowing in advance where you are getting out. Ryan’s figures are his own, fitted to his method and his tolerance, not prescriptions. What transfers is the sequence: both numbers existed before any position did, so the arithmetic was finished while nothing was at stake.

Trading Application

Settle your own two numbers away from the screen: what a single trade may cost you, and how many slices the account divides into. Then check that they can coexist — a slice size and a loss cap that cannot both be honored will get reconciled under pressure, in favor of the position you already own. The takeaway: the numbers matter far less than when you chose them.
