jpx400 Heatmap — RS Rating × Minervini Trend Score

“To control my risk, I want to enter my buy as close to my stop as possible.”
(Mark Minervini)

KOLの視点KOL Take

I work out where I would be wrong before I work out where to buy, because the entry only means anything measured against that point. Conviction has never once shortened the distance between the two.

Core Principle

Read the sentence in the order he wrote it: the stop already exists while the entry is being chosen. The exit is the fixed point and the buy is the variable, which reverses the usual order — pick the stock, take a price, then find somewhere to put a stop. Once the order flips, the cost of being wrong stops being a feeling and becomes a measurement. It is the distance between where you bought and where the idea stops being valid, and only the first of those two is yours to choose. Conviction ought to count for something here and it does not. A strong opinion and a weak one pay exactly the same amount for the same mistake.

Trading Application

Before you look at an entry, mark the level that would tell you the idea failed. Then measure what buying here would cost if that level is reached, and let that number decide rather than how much you like the chart. Sometimes the honest answer is that the distance is too wide today and no version of this trade is worth taking. The takeaway: choose the exit first, and let it tell you whether an entry exists.
