jpx400 Heatmap — RS Rating × Minervini Trend Score

“I caution you against confusing chart forms with intelligence.”
(Larry Williams)

KOLの視点KOL Take

A chart pattern is a tidy description of what already happened. It is not evidence about what happens next, and the moment I catch myself treating a neat shape as if it were analysis, I have stopped doing the work.

Core Principle

Williams made the point by charting things with no market inside them at all — coin flips, daily temperatures — and producing the same clean formations chartists point to on price. Randomness generates shapes; the eye finds them, and the mind supplies a story about accumulation or distribution to explain what it is looking at. That is the trap. A shape feels like information because it is visible, symmetrical and has a name. But a pattern is a compressed description of prices that have already printed. It carries no independent evidence about the next move, and treating it as though it does is how a chart stops being a tool and becomes a mirror.

Trading Application

Before acting on a formation, ask what agrees with it that is not the formation itself: volume behavior, relative strength against the index, whether the Industry Group is acting the same way. The takeaway: treat a pattern as a question worth checking rather than an answer, because a shape supported by nothing else is a picture, not a case.
