The urge to protect a win rate is emotional rather than analytical, and it distorts behavior in two predictable directions. You take profits early so a green trade cannot turn red, and you hold a loser longer so it never has to be recorded as a loss. Both decisions improve the statistic and damage the account, because they shrink the wins and enlarge the losses. Minervini’s point is that the percentage was never yours to govern in the first place. The market sets how often you are right; you set how much each outcome is worth.

注意を向ける価値があるのは、自分がどれくらいの頻度で正しかったかではなく、平均利益と平均損失の関係のほうだ——勝率とは違い、こちらは自分の行動が変われば、それに応じて動いてくれる。ある手法は、正しい確率が5割を大きく下回っていても、勝ちトレードが負けトレードを十分に上回ることさえ許してやれば、一連のトレードを通してトータルではプラスになり得る。結論:自分には手が届かないスコアボードの管理をやめ、自分の手が届くほうのスコアボードを管理せよ。
The number worth your attention is not how often you were right, but the relationship between your average gain and your average loss — because unlike the win rate, that one moves when your behavior does. A method can be right well under half the time and still come out ahead over a series of trades, provided the winners are allowed to outweigh the losers. The takeaway: stop managing the scoreboard you cannot reach, and start managing the one you can.
