sp500 Heatmap — RS Rating × Minervini Trend Score

“Stocks did not fly like balloons in any direction. As if attracted by a magnet, they had a defined upward or downward trend, which, once established, tended to continue.”
(Nicolas Darvas)

KOLの視点KOL Take

Price is not drifting at random. Once a direction takes hold it tends to keep it, and that

persistence is the only reason any trend method has something to work with.

Core Principle

This observation is the premise underneath every trend technique, and it is worth stating plainly

because it usually goes assumed. If direction were random, no frame, no stop and no breakout would

carry information — you would be drawing lines on noise. Darvas found the opposite: established

trends tended to continue, which makes a move already underway weak evidence about the next move

rather than no evidence at all. Note his own hedge. Trends *tended* to continue. A tendency is not a

guarantee, which is precisely why he needed a defined frame to tell him when one had stopped.

Trading Application

Separate the stocks that have committed to a direction from those oscillating without one, and give

your attention to the first group. For anything you hold, decide in advance what price would say the

trend has ended, so the exit is a level rather than an opinion formed under pressure. The takeaway:

persistence is the edge, and a defined boundary is what keeps you honest about when it is gone.
