Livermore is separating two skills we tend to lump together. Plenty of traders can read a situation correctly. Plenty of others have the patience to sit on a position. The rare ones do both at once, holding a correct call through the noise instead of bailing at the first wiggle of profit. Being right earns you nothing if you scatter at the first pullback; sitting tight earns you nothing if your thesis was wrong. The edge lives where the two meet.

Once a position is working and your reasoning still holds, decide ahead of time what would actually break it — and treat everything short of that as noise to be ignored. The takeaway: separate “am I right?” from “should I sit?”, and let a defined invalidation, not boredom or a twitch of green, end the trade.
