jpx400 Heatmap — RS Rating × Minervini Trend Score

“Never buy a stock because it appears cheap after getting smashed. When it sells off further, you’ll find out that cheap can become far cheaper!”
(Stan Weinstein)

KOLの視点KOL Take

A trap I had to train myself out of: a stock that’s been crushed looks like a bargain, but “down

a lot” is not the same as “value.” If it’s in a downtrend, cheap is just a waypoint to cheaper.

Core Principle

Weinstein is warning against one of the most natural and costly instincts in the market —

treating a beaten-down price as a discount. A stock that has been smashed is usually being sold

for a reason, and a falling chart tells you the supply still outweighs the demand. “It can’t go

much lower” is a feeling, not a floor. Bottom-fishing puts you in a position where the trend, the

tape, and the crowd are all working against you, and you’re left averaging into something the

market is actively rejecting.

Trading Application

Let how cheap a stock looks be irrelevant to the buy decision; demand evidence that the downtrend

has actually ended — basing, stabilizing, turning up — before committing capital. The takeaway: a

low price is not a reason to buy, and “cheap” with no base under it can always become far cheaper.
