My own rule before I do anything with a stock: pull up the chart first. It tells me which stage the
stock is actually in before I let myself form an opinion.

Weinstein’s whole framework rests on knowing where a stock sits in its cycle — basing, advancing,
topping, or declining. The chart answers that at a glance, and acting without it is just acting on a
story. Plenty of good fundamental ideas are technically in the wrong stage, and the chart is what
saves you from buying a fine company that the market is quietly busy distributing.

どんな判断を下す前にも、トレンドとステージを確認せよ:価格は上昇する長期移動平均の上にあるか、それとも下降する移動平均の下にあるか？肝心なのは、まずチャートでステージを確認すること——ファンダメンタルズは第一問ではなく、第二問だ。
Before any decision, check the trend and the stage: is price above a rising long-term moving average,
or below a falling one? The takeaway: let the chart confirm the stage first — the fundamentals are
the second question, not the first.
