Livermore is pointing at the quiet foundation under every other skill. You can have the system, the
watchlist, the rules — but the moment a trade goes against you, all of that gets tested by doubt. A
trader who borrowed their thesis from a newsletter or a forum has nothing to hold onto when price
wobbles, so they fold at the worst possible moment. Belief in your own judgment isn’t ego. It’s the
thing that lets you sit through normal noise without abandoning a sound plan, because you understand
why you’re in the trade and what would actually prove you wrong.
