sp500 Heatmap — RS Rating × Minervini Trend Score

“I knew now that I had to keep rigidly to the system I had carved out for myself. I had learned that if I deviated from it even once, I would be in trouble.”
(Nicolas Darvas)

KOLの視点KOL Take

A rule I am willing to break once is not a rule — it is a preference I keep while it stays convenient, and the market finds that distinction faster than I do.

Core Principle

Notice what Darvas says he learned. Not that his system was the best one available, but that it only worked while it was followed without exception — a narrower claim, and a far more useful one. A method’s edge lives in the whole set of trades it produces, and you only receive that set by taking all of them. Skip the ones that look wrong in the moment and you are no longer running the method; you are running your judgment with the method kept nearby for reassurance. The damage also outlives the trade. The first exception establishes that exceptions exist, so every later decision now carries an extra question: is this one of those times? Rules exist precisely to remove that question.

Trading Application

Write down the conditions under which you allow yourself to override, then log every single time you invoke one. The pattern tends to appear quickly: overrides cluster in the trades you most wanted to take anyway. The takeaway: measure your discipline by how often you made an exception, not by how the exceptions happened to turn out.
